The Freight Claims Conference on 16 October 2025 in Bern: SAVE THE DATE!

CIT has the pleasure to invite the CIT members to the Freight Claims Departments’ Conference 2025.

The conference will be held on Thursday 16 October 2025 at the CIT Headquarters in Bern.

The Conference is designed for members of the CIT and for their staff from the claims departments, commercial departments and legal departments. As usually, the conference will contribute to CIT members’ continuous professional training programs and to the further development of CIT freight documentation.

The main purpose of it is a dedicated discussions on CIT Freight Traffic topics. We will start in the first module with the changes being made to the CIT freight documentations, further to that on current issues concerning the new models for international rail freight carriage and finally relevant practical cases facing claims handling departments, as well as settling claims in the various contractual models for carriage. This year, we will also focus on the non-discriminatory access to the rail network proceedings in Switzerland delt at RailCom.

The second module of the conference will take a practical approach to the following three topics: the application of the CIM Uniform Rules, handling damage to wagons from the railway undertaking perspective, and an ECM (Entity in Charge of Maintenance) Workshop. The third presentation will focus on the issuance of the electronic formal report in connection with the implementation of the CIM electronic consignment note and the CUV electronic wagon note, based on IT technologies, to simplify the work of claims handling departments. The ongoing revision of the TSI Telematics will be also presented in a comprehensive manner.

The third module will offer a broader view of claims management from a multimodal perspective, providing an overview on the supply chain for rail and drawing the awareness of the service provides and the claims handling departments. It will be also offering ideas and food for thought on how we manage after sales in international rail freight transport.

As usual, the final part of the conference will be devoted to networking, with an open discussion and a final Q&A session. This will provide an opportunity for colleagues from various departments to discuss specific outstanding issues and improve working relationships.

We look forward to welcoming you to Bern in colourful October!
