First CIT Executive Committee meeting in 2026 in Bern
The first meeting of the CIT Executive Committee took place under the chairmanship of CIT Chair Ms Maria Sack (DB) on 23-24 April 2026 at CIT premises in Bern. CIT Vice-Chair Ms Maria Urbańska (PKP) and all Executive Committee members participated in-person in this important meeting profiling the CIT work agenda decided by the CIT General Assembly for the year 2026.
Additional information was provided on statutory issues and the implementation of Executive Committee decisions by the Secretary-General. Particular attention was paid to the further exchange with CIT Members and tailormade developments of the CIT General Secretariat.
The reporting by the CIT General Secretariat (GS CIT) in the second part of the meeting focused on a summary report on passenger transport, and in particular the AJC; freight transport, specifically the Convention on the Unified Railway Law (Unified Railway Law ‘URL’) and the use of wagons, as well as infrastructure use, including the role of CIT in the application of the new EU Capacity Regulation.
The next Executive Committee meeting is planned for September 2026 in Madrid at the kind invitation of RENFE Management.
CIT Chair Ms Sack took the opportunity to thank all members of the Executive Committee and the CIT General Secretariat for their full involvement and dedication in the interests of CIT members. She also expressed their gratitude to the long-standing interpreter Elke d'Hoeraene for her many years of high-quality linguistic support.
